  In 1837, Margaret had a daughter Selina Baxter before she married John.  Then they had Allen in 1850.
  
  25 June 1848, Margaret Baxter (illegitimate) married John Mather, a Fly Maker at St Mary, Leigh.  Both were from Atherton.
  
  In 1851, Margaret and John (both 24) had Selene and Allen Mather (3 & 1).  They were living at Common Street, Atherton with Margaret's (step) father Thomas Melling (39, so possibly too young to be her father) and assumed mother Betty Melling (46).
  
  In 1871, Thomas Melling (62) was with John and Margaret.  He was described as "Father" (of John the head)
