Ann was born in 1813 in Ashworth and her baptism took place on January 3rd, 1813 in Heywood.1  Ann's father was John Barlow and her mother was Mary Meaden. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Robert, John, Sally, Rachael, Mary, Margaret, Susanna  and Jane.  She was the oldest of the nine children.
