In 1841, Jopseph and Ann Allen (both 60) were in Shaw Street, Bolton with Betty (20) and Sarah (14), possible grandchildren.
In 1851, Joseph (74 and a Loomer, born Warrington) was married to Ann (75) and living at Shaw Street, Bolton Emmanuel, East Bolton.
In 1861, Joseph Allen, aged 84, born Warrington, was living in the cellar under 137 Blackburn Street, Bolton
