Edwin C. Trauernicht, 94 years of age, of Beatrice, Nebraska died at the Beatrice Community Hospital on Thursday morning, February 19, 2004. He was born on February 19, 1910 at rural Pickrell, Nebraska. He was married to Anna A. Parde on July 22, 1934 at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska and they lived and farmed northeast of Pickrell until they retired and moved to Beatrice in April of 1986. He was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska He was also a member of Aerie #531 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Beatrice, Nebraska. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards.
Survivors include two sons, Walter Trauernicht and his wife Audrey of Beatrice, Nebraska and Robert Trauernicht and his wife Judy of Palmer, Tennessee. One daughter, Janet Dissmeyer and her husband Melvin of Adams, Nebraska. 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Rose Paben and Arlene Kelle and her husband Norbert all of Beatrice, Nebraska. Special friend, Emma Hofeling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garrelt and Anna Louise Zimmerman Trauernicht, his wife Anna who died on February 27, 1994, one daughter Gladys Huls Hagemeier, five brothers Herman, Willie, Alfred, John G., and Elmer Trauernicht, two sisters, Emma Wolken and Clara Fritzen and two sons-in-law, Leonard Huls and Don Hagemeier.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A family prayer service will be held Saturday at 10:15 A.M. in the basement of the church. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with LaVerne and Shirley Wolken in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice, Nebraska until 9:00 P.M. Friday and then at the church one hour preceding the services on Saturday. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
