Fred L. Trauernicht, 81, of Mitchell died on Monday, March 25, 2002, at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
He was born on March 17, 1921, in Craig, Mo., to William and Ora Marie (Sanders) Trauernicht. He attended school at Craig and later in Chugwater, Wyo. He married Daisy Reed on Jan. 25, 1942.
He served in the Army during the European Theater from September 1942 until his honorable discharge in October of 1945. He was an ambulance driver for the Medical Corps and attained a rank of Corporal during his service.
He worked at the Great Western Sugar Company for 25 years after which he and Daisy traveled during his retirement. The couple bought a home in Yuma, Ariz., where they lived for several years before returning to Mitchell.
Fred was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mitchell, the American Legion, VFW, DAV, Rex Young Rock Club of Torrington, Mitchell Rock and Gem Club, Good Sam Camping Club, and the Eastern Nebraska Blacksmith Association.
He is survived by his wife; children, Sandy and husband Tom Snider, Tom Trauernicht, Dale (Pete) and wife Diane Trauernicht; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, John and wife Ella Marie Trauernicht; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, at the Jones Mortuary in Mitchell with Pastor Sheila Taylor of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Mitchell Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, March 27, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Jones Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Mitchell.
Daisy Bernice Reed
Daisy was born on June 19th, 1924 in
Chadron, Dawes County, Nebraska. She died at the age of 84 on May 3rd, 2009 in
Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. The funeral took place in
Jones Mortuary, Mitchell, Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska. She was buried at the
Mitchell Cemetery, Mitchell, Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska.

- Daisy Berneice (Reed) Trauernicht, 84, of York, formerly of Mitchell, went to meet her Lord May 3, 2009 in Lincoln, Neb. Services will be held at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell on May 9, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Reverend Sheila Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Mitchell City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Mitchell United Methodist Church. Jones Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Daisy was born June 19, 1924 in Chadron, to Robert and Belle (Gregory) Reed. Daisy was one of ten children and grew up in Morrill and attended the Morrill schools. Daisy married Fred Trauernicht on Jan. 25, 1942. She worked at various jobs while Fred was in Germany during World War II. Daisy was a loving mother, family member, and a good Christian who believed in and loved the Lord. Daisy and Fred had three children, Sandra Marie, Tom Leroy and Dale Earl.
Daisy and Fred loved to travel in their camper and spent several years in Yuma, Ariz., before retiring to Mitchell. They were both avid rock hunters. After Fred passed away, Daisy moved to York, Neb. to be close to her daughter and family. Daisy will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include daughter Sandra (Tom) Snider, son Dale (Diane) Trauernicht, grandchildren Thomas Jr.(Greisy) Snider, Sharon Marie(Gaylord) Lambrecht, Timothy Dale (Amy) Trauernicht, Heidi Lynn Trauernicht, Anthony (Teri) Trauernicht, granddaughter Denise Ewing, great grandchildren Naomi Snider, Heather Marie (Ryan) Linden, Matthew Smith, Noah Lambrecht, Jacob Trauernicht, Travis, Dillon, and Gracie Trauernicht, step grandchildren Shawn and Christy, great great grandchildren Jessah and Keygan Linden, sister Lillie (Ray) Hennings, sister-in-law Shirley Reed, brother-in-law Johnnie (Ella Marie) Trauernicht, many nieces and nephews.
Daisy was preceded in death by her husband Fred, one son Tom Leroy, her parents, siblings, Alice Cline, Hannah Frick, Ethel Strong, Howard Reed, David Reed, Ella Stewart, Burt Reed, James Reed.
