- Dr. Winter was the husband of Thelma Hooberry Winter and they were married on June 3, 1930. He was a pharmacist and owner of Winter's Pharmacy (1919-1965)in Nashville, Tennessee. He served in the 73rd, 74th (1943-47) and 82nd (1961-63) Tennessee General Assemblies as a State Representative for Davidson County as a Democrat. He attended Nashville parochial schools and was graduated from Hume-Fogg High School; awarded a degree in pharmacy from Vanderbilt University around 1914. He served in World War I, but no details are available. He served on the Nashville City Council, 1943-45; member of the county court, 1952-60; secretary of the Tennessee Public Health Council; member of the board of directors, Bill Wilkerson Speech and Hearing Center; member board of directors of Nashville General (Davidson County) Hospital; Davidson County Welfare Commission, serving as chairman for eight years; National Association of Retail Druggists; Tennessee Pharmaceutical Association, serving as president; Tennessee Retail Drug Association, serving as secretary then president. He also served as a member of the Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County council (1961-65). He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Hillwood Country Club and a communicant of the Cathedral of the Incarnation.

- Thelma Hooberry Winter; Survived by daughters, Dolores Bardill, Mary Ann Sandler and Judith Winter Gupton; son, William P. Winter, Jr.; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren; brother, Ben C. Hooberry all of Nashville. Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, September 14, 1992 at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, Father Patrick J. Kibby officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, 2-8 p.m. and Sunday after 12 noon. Rosary at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at Roesch Patton Austin Bracey and Charlton Funeral Home, 209 Louise Avenue. Pallbearers: William David Sandler, Michael J. Sandler, William H. Bardill, Jr., John Patrick Bardill, Joseph C. Bardill, Daniel P. Bardill and John A. Gupton IV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Cecilia.
