Grethe was born on January 18th, 1869 in Ostfriesland, Germany.  Grethe's father was Siebolt Siemering and her mother was Elizabeth Sasson. She had a brother named John.  She was the younger of the two children.  She died at the age of 103 on May 7th, 1972 in Gothenburg, Dawson County, Nebraska.

Grethe and Paul were married in a religious ceremony on May 26th, 1890.  They had a daughter named Margaret.
