Lewis Melvin "Melville" was born in 1858 in Jefferson County, Indiana, USA.1   Lewis Melvin "Melville"'s father was William McKay McCartney and his mother was Mary Ann "Polly" Law.  His paternal grandparents are James McCartney and Sarah Lowery; his maternal grandparents were William Joel Law and Susanna Baur. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Albert, Williamson, Elnora, Susan J. and Louanna.  He died at the age of 35 on October 23rd, 1893 in Scott County, Indiana, USA.
