Catherine's father was Madison Alexander Houston and her mother was Elizabeth Glen Vannoy. Her paternal grandparents were Harvey Houston and Isabella Hamilton; her maternal grandparents were Andrew Vannoy and Rebecca. She had two sisters named Rebecca Isabelle and Mary Jane "Molly".-
