Mathias was born on June 8th, 1794 in Lexington, Davidson, North Carolina, USA. Mathias' father was Casper Hinkle and his mother was Caroline Frances "Fanny" Robertson. His paternal grandfather was Capt. Charles Hinkle and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Johnson. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Charles, Casper, Isaac, Matthias, William, Susanna, Sarah, Fanny, Marie and Lourdes. He died at the age of 75 on January 2nd, 1870 in Lexington, Davidson, North Carolina, USA.-
