Samuel was born in 1710 in New Castle County, Delaware, USA.1   Samuel's father was John Henry Gregg and his mother was Elizabeth Cooke.  His paternal grandfather was William Gregg and his paternal grandmother is "Unknown"; his maternal grandfather was William Cooke and his maternal grandmother is Elizabeth Fox. He had three brothers and three sisters, named William, Thomas, Joseph, Amy, Rebekah and Hannah.  He died at the age of 57 on August 10th, 1767 in Brandywine, New Castle, Delaware, USA.2
