Dirkje was born on January 25th, 1725 in Leiden and her baptism took place on January 25th, 1725.1  Dirkje's father was Pieter Catoir and her mother was Gijsje van der Schalje.  Her maternal grandparents were Pieter Pieters van der Schalje and Catharina Oliviers de Wilde. She had a sister named Francijntje.  She was the younger of the two children.
