Antje Douwes was born on July 30th, 1789 in Makkum and her baptism took place on August 16th, 1789.  Antje Douwes' father was Douwe Beintjes Buurstra and her mother was Richtje Jans.  Her paternal grandparents were Bintie Klases and Antje Sijbes; her maternal grandparents were Jan Piers and Doutsen Jacobs Nadema.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 69 on July 28th, 1859 in Dokkum.
