William was born in 1788.  William's father is William Lindow and his mother is Rebecca Martin.  His paternal grandparents are William Lindow and Ann Postlethwaite; his maternal grandparents are John Martin and <Unknown>. He has four sisters named Ann, Mary, Rebecca and Jane.  He is the third oldest of the five children.
