Margaret Ellen was born on September 29th, 1878 in Dundee, Monroe, Michigan, United States.1   Margaret Ellen's father was William Henry Rankin and her mother was Amy Ursla Kimpton.  Her paternal grandparents were Orlean Rankins and Hannah Miller; her maternal grandparents were John Watterman Kimpton and Amy Ann Acoby. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Myron, Laverne, Elmer, Dewitt, Alta D., Amy Elizabeth, Marietta, Henrietta O "Etta", Blanche Francis and Grace M..  She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 85 on September 28th, 1964 in Tecumseh, Lenawee, Michigan, United States.  She was buried in 1964 in Petersburg, Monroe, Michigan, United States.
