Joseph Frederick was born on September 22nd, 1905 in Carrollton, Carroll, Ohio, United States.1   Joseph Frederick's father was Frederick Arthur Rankin and his mother was Ruth Ann Clute.  His paternal grandparents were John Peter Rankin and Lucy Matida Brown; his maternal grandparents were William Clute and Clara H. Austin. He had two brothers named Carrole Clute and John William.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died at the age of 78 on March 2nd, 1984 in Southfield, Oakland, Michigan, United States.  He was buried in Beverly Hills, Oakland, Michigan, United States.1 1
