Ralph was born in 1952.  Ralph's father was Hugh 10th Duke of Northumberland and his mother was Lady Elizabeth Montagu Douglas Scott.  His paternal grandparents were Alan Ian 8th Duke of Northumberland and Helen. He had a brother named Henry Alan Walter Richard.  He is the older of the two children.

• General Notes

  Ralph Percy succeeded to the title in October 1995. He was born in 1956 and educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. In 1979 he married Jane Richard, whose family lives in the Borders. They have four children. The Duke trained as a land surveyor and was in practice in the south of England before returning to Northumberland in 1986. He has been managing the family's estates since 1992.
