John  Fraunceis

Combe Florey Church

John  was born in 1568 in Combe Florey, Somerset.  John 's father was John Fraunceis and his mother was Margaret Wyndham.  His paternal grandparents were Sir William Fraunceis and Mary Berkeley. He had two brothers named Thomas and William.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died at the age of 67 in 1635.

  The elder John Fraunceis of Combe Florey, Somerset.
  
  The traditional family seat of the Fraunceis family may have been at Uplowman in Devonshire. 
  It is recorded in "A History Of Ford Abbey" published in 1846 that this estate was gifted by John Fraunceis Gwyn on his death in 1846 to his great nephew John Fraunceis Griffith because it was the ancient seat of the Fraunceis family.
