Richard was born in 1809 in Ireland.  Richard's father was Mr Francis Kiernan and his mother was Mrs Charlotte Stretch. He had four brothers and a sister, named Colelough, Robert, James, John and Ann.  He died at the age of 28 on March 10th, 1837 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
