Sophia was born in 1860 in Fosdyke, Lincolnshire, England.  Sophia's father was Mr Charles Henry Clark and her mother was Mrs Esther Dalton.  Her paternal grandparents were Mr John Clark and Mrs Mary Rosling; her maternal grandparents were Mr William Dalton and Mrs Mary Levett. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Charles, John, Emily, Elizabeth and Esther.  She was the oldest of the six children.  She died  due to Carcinoma of Bile Ducts and Pancreas at the age of 70 on July 14th, 1930 in 43 Henry Street, Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England.  She was buried on July 17th, 1930 in Scartho Road Cemetary, Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England.1
