Clara was born on April 15th, 1834 in Paal and her baptism took place there on April 16th, 1834.¹² Clara's father was Jean (Joannis) Gaethofs and her mother was Susanna Schraijen. Her paternal grandparents were Petrus Franciscus Gaethofs and Catharina Elizabeth Theunis; her maternal grandparents were Pieter Scraijen and Elizabeth Ceysens. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Karel, Remigius , Jan Franciscus, Regina and Maria Philomena . She was the third oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 34 on September 26th, 1868 in Paal.¹
