Antoine was born on April 26th, 1734 in Heusden Zolder.¹   Antoine's father was Antonius Gathoffs and his mother was Helena Schreven.  His paternal grandparents were Arnoldus (Jacobus) Gathoffs and Christina Vanderheyden. He had three brothers named Jean François, Martinus Pierre and Paul.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 76 on September 26th, 1810 in Paal.²
