James 's father was James Nicholl and his mother is Matilda Robinson.  His paternal grandparents are Gilbert Nicholl and Fergusson; his maternal grandparents are Beriah Robinson and Elizabeth Paterson. He had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Albert, Frederick, George, Eliza, Benjamin, Mary and Gertude.  James  is no longer alive.
