John was born in 1710 and his baptism took place on September 4th, 1710 in Thaxted.  John's father was James Clark and his mother was Esther Herd.  His paternal grandparents are James Clark and Susan Sucklin. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James, Thomas, Esther and Hannah.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 48 on July 7th, 1758 in Chickney.

‌John and Elizabeth were married on August 10th, 1744 in Chickney.  They had five sons and three daughters, named John, James, Thomas, Henry, Joseph, Mary, Esther and Susannah.
