Nicolás was born in December 1723 in Loja and his baptism took place there on December 28th, 1723. Nicolás' father was Maestre Agustín Carrión and his mother was Catalina Vaca. His paternal grandparents were Antonio Carrión and Bárbara Román; his maternal grandparents were Jerónimo Vaca and Felipa Arredondo. He was an only child.-
