Elizabeth was born in 1814 in Eling.  Elizabeth's father was John Osman and her mother was Hannah Forrester.  Her paternal grandparents are John Osman and Martha Mabey. She had four brothers and four sisters, named James, John, William, Thomas, Anne, Jane, Mary and Frances.  She is the fourth oldest of the nine children.
