Florence was born in 1893 in South Stoneham.  Florence's father was George William Lane and her mother was Emily Lavinia London.  Her paternal grandparents are John Lane and Mary Legg; her maternal grandparents are Jesse  (Jasper) London and Flora Malton. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William, George, William, Albert, Frederick, Lilian and Gertrude.  She is the fourth oldest of the eight children.
