William was born in 1836.  William's father was Frederik of_Netherlands and his mother was Louisa of_Prussia.  His paternal grandparents were William_I of_Netherlands and Wilhelmina; his maternal grandparents were Frederick William_III and Louise of_Mecklenburg- Strelitz.  He was the third of four children.  He had a brother and two sisters, named Frederick, Louise and Marie.  He died at the age of 10 in 1846.
