Marie was born on October 28th, 1767 in Hanau.  Marie's father was Charles of_Hesse-Cassel and her mother was Louise.  Her maternal grandparents were Frederick_V and Louisa Hanover.  She was the oldest of two children.  She had a sister named Louise Caroline of_Hesse-Cassel.  She died at the age of 84 on March 21st, 1852 in Amalienborg,Denmark.
