Louis of_Battenberg was born in 1854.  Louis of_Battenberg's father was Alexander of_Hesse and_the_Rhine and his mother was Julia of_Battenberg von_Hauke.  His paternal grandparents were Louis_II of_Hesse and_the_Rhine and Wilhelmina of_Baden; his maternal grandparents were John Maurice von_Hauke and Sophie la_Fontaine.  He was the second of five children.  He had three brothers and a sister, named Francis Joseph, Henry Maurice of_Battenberg, Alexander of_Bulgaria and Marie.  He died at the age of 67 in 1921.
