Gaston was born in 1608.  Gaston's father was Henry_IV the_Great and his mother was Marie de'_Medici.  His paternal grandparents were Antoine de_Bourbon of_France and Jeanne d'Albret of_France; his maternal grandparents were Francesco_I of_Tuscany Italy and Joanna of_Austria.  He was the third of five children.  He had a brother and three sisters, named Louis_XIII, Elizabeth of_France, Henrietta Maria of_France and Marie Christine.  He died at the age of 52 in 1660.
