Conceição's father was José Lopes and her mother was Joaquina Freitas Morna.  Her maternal grandparents were  Julio de  Freitas Morna and  Maria Carolina Gomes.  She is the youngest of seven children.  She has six sisters named Maria José, Deolinda, Gabriela, Carmelita, José  and Maria Alice.
