Joseph Craig was born about 1869 in Whitehaven, Cumberland.  Joseph Craig's father is Thomas Satterthwaite and his mother is Mary Craig.  His maternal grandfather is Joseph Craig and his maternal grandmother was Unknown.  He has a brother and a sister, named William and Prudence.  He is the oldest of the three children.
