Albert Edward was born in June 1883 in East Stonehouse, Plymouth, Devon.  Albert Edward's father is Charles Nation and his mother is Eliza.  His paternal grandparents were John Nation and Mary Hartnell.  He has five brothers and five sisters, named Clifford Joseph John, Frederick Charles, William Henry, Sidney, Edmund W, Florence Emma, Alice Ann, Charlotte Emily, Louisa Catherine and Jessie.  He is the youngest of the eleven children.
