Jonathan was born in 1838.  Jonathan's father was Hugh McVay and his mother was Hannah Grey.  His paternal grandparents are Hugh McVay and Ann Wilkinson.  He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named Henry, Faith, Mary, Betsy, Nancy and Ann.
