Jessie Maria CHARLTON 
Jessie was born in 1852 in Norwich, Norfolk, England.1 Jessie's father was William CHARLTON and her mother was Hannah HEWETT. Her paternal grandparents were Joel CHARLTON and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were James HEWETT and Eliza UNKNOWN. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Henry, William, Frederick, Alfred, Margaret and Frances. She was the second oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 56 on July 31st, 1908 in Norwood, Adelaide, SA. She was buried on August 2nd, 1908 in West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide, SA.2 3 Death Notes
Jessie's death record can be viewed in the Campbeltown City Library in Book 26, p233. David (2nd husband) and Jessie were living in 56 Kent Terrace Norwood when she died.

Jessie departed Lodon on 8-6-1883 on "Ashmore" and arrived in Port Adelaide on 1-9-1883 with children Charles, Frederick and Henry (SA Maritime Museum records).
The grounding of the Ashmore at the Althorpe's is reported in the Chronicle, 17 November 1888, page 23c.
