  • 'On August 14th, 1899, aged 83 years, Thomas Heaton, of Preston, Lancashire.  He was a member and senior deacon of the church of Great Avenham Street Chapel from its formation, and a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ for over 50 years.  He was a quiet man of God, and a man of peace.  He spoke loudly with his feet, and was regular and punctual upon the means of grace, living and walking in the fear of God.  He passed away, after being confined to his bed only a few days, in perfect peace, and is now at rest with his Lord and Saviour, as many who love God and knew him can testify.  We feel greatly our loss, and pray that the Lord will raise up others to fill his place.  Further particulars (G.w.) to follow.'
