Thomas Mercer

Thomas was born about 1576 in Tan House, Great Harwood, Blackburn, Lancashire, England. Thomas' father was Alexander Mercer and his mother was Grace Mercer. He had a brother and a sister, named John and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died on November 1st, 1625 in Upper Town, Great Harwood, Blackburn, Lancashire, England.¹

- Thomas Mercer, was the ancestor of the Mercer family of Tan House. His sister Elizabeth married Robert Squire of Squires Farm Gt Harwood, son of Henry Squire and Dorothy Hesketh and the grandson of Thomas Hesketh (Lord of the Manor) and Alice Holcroft.
  The family were engaged in all the processes of woollen cloth production, possibly including fulling which would be unusual.
