Jonathan was born in 1757.  Jonathan's father was Jonathan Stamper and his mother was Rachel Parks.  His paternal grandparents were Powell Stamper and Mary Brooks. He had two brothers and a sister, named Joshua, Jonathan and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 76 in 1833.
