Zacharias was born on July 19th, 1641.  Zacharias' father was Friedrich Meker and his mother was Elizabeth Vetter.  His paternal grandparents were Hans Mercker and Agnes; his maternal grandparents were Jorg Vetter and Margarete. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Johann, Bernard, Friedrich, Johannes, Matthias, Anna, Margarethe, Elisabeth, Margaretha and Johann.  He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.
