Iner was born in 1906.  Iner's father was William Sherman Gray and her mother was Arrona/Arroner (Rona) Oakley.  Her maternal grandparents were Lee M Oakley and Sarah Brooks. She had a brother and three sisters, named Glen, Leona, Ina and Luda.  She is the third oldest of the five children.
