Caroline, known as Pop, was born on April 23rd, 1916 in Bengkalis, Indonesia.  Pop's father was Carel Caspar Louis Mettler and her mother was Nellie Aletta Sternberg.  Her paternal grandparents were Caspar Johannes Mettler and Wilhelmina Louise Ph Frantzen; her maternal grandparents were Evert L Sternberg and Unknown. She had a brother and four sisters, named Ferry, Mien, Nancy, Tiene and Sien.  She was the second youngest of the six children.  She died due to heart disease, Ischaemic Heart Disease, at the age of 93 on April 29th, 2009 in Sunbury, Australia.  The funeral took place on May 4th, 2009 in The Chapel of Repose, Altona Memorial Park, Altona North and was arranged by Tobin Bros.  She was cremated in August 2009 in Werribee Cemetery..
