Manuel do Canto de was born about 1570. Manuel do Canto de's father was Pedro de Castro do Canto and his mother is Maria de Mendonça Ferreira de Mello. His paternal grandfather was António Pires do Canto and his paternal grandmother is D. Catarina de Castro. He had two brothers and a sister, named António de Mello do Canto de, Diogo do Canto de and Violante do Canto de. He was the oldest of the four children. He died about 1674 in Concição, Angra do Heroísmo, Ilha da Terceira Açôres - PORTUGAL.General Notes
