Jair's father is José  Venãncio de Castro and his mother is Liercina Mafort de Castro.  His maternal grandparents were Selvino Antonio Mafort and Maria Augusta Mafort Knupp.  He has five brothers and three sisters, named José, Aylton, Nilo, Valdir, Josias, Maria , Terezinha and Creuza.
