Mercy Bishop

Mercy was born in 1768 in Sussex, UK and her baptism took place on February 26th, 1768 in St John the Baptist church, Westbourne, Sussex, UK.¹   Mercy's father was James Bishop and her mother was Mary Varndale. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Thomas, John, Mary, Anne and Sarah.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.

    Possibly the Mercy Bishop who married a Thomas Mills in Rye in 1800, she would have been 32, that's a bit old for the times, and very far away for the times
