William was born in 1838 in MUSSELBURGH Midlothian Scotland.  William's father was William Doleman and his mother was Catherine Hamilton.  His paternal grandparents were John Doleman and Margaret Archibald; his maternal grandparents were Alexander Hamilton and Agnes Renton. He had four brothers and four sisters, named John, Alexander , James, Francis, Agnes (Ann), Janet, Margaret and Catherine.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 80 in 1918 in 103 New City Road, Glasgow.
