Isabella was born in 1783.  Isabella's father was Robert Begg and her mother was Isabella Mathison.  Her paternal grandfather is Alexander Begg and her paternal grandmother was Isobel Cormack.  She had three brothers and a sister, named Alexander, John, Robert and James.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
