Janet was born in 1825.  Janet's father was David Adamson and her mother was Janet Brown.  Her paternal grandparents were Alexander Adamson and Mary Donald.  She had six sisters named Helen, Jane, Isabella, Mary, Martha and Elizabeth.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
