Muncie-Cassie Marie Smith, 85, passed away Friday evening, August 28, 2015, at the Golden Living Center following an extended illness. She was born on September 13, 1929 in Calico Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Earl Marvin and Maye (Collins) Chism.
Cassie married the love of her life, Arlis E. Smith on November 6, 1947 in Arkansas and he survives. Mrs. Smith had worked for Ball State University serving in the dining hall of the Studebaker residence building and later became a homemaker. She was a member of the Full Gospel Temple, the Avondale Sympathy Club and the Joy Group at church. Cassie enjoyed doing sewing of all kinds, reading her bible, traveling, especially visiting family, and was known to be a very good cook specializing in fried chicken dinners. She was used to big family meals with a lot of folks to feed.
Besides her husband of 68 years, Arlis, she is survived by two daughters, Loretta Smith, Aurora, Colorado and Patricia Copeland (husband-Ed), Muncie; two grandchildren, Cassandra Warstler, Aurora, Colorado and Ryan Copeland (wife-Natalie), Muncie; 1 great grandchild, Katie Copeland, Muncie; many nieces and nephews and wonderful church friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Opal Freeman, Erma June Sexton and Velma Tunnicliff; eight brothers, Glen, Earl, Don, Noel, Curtis, Amel, Jack and Dale Chism
