Martinus Peter was born on March 1st, 1863 in Gameren.1  Martinus Peter's father was Adrianus Gerardus van de Werken and his mother was Arnolda Catrina van de Garde.  His paternal grandparents were Hendrik Abraham van de Werken and Leijntje Dirkje van Straaten; his maternal grandparents were Johannes van de Garde and Lijntje van Well. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Evert Jan, Johannis, Hendrik Abraham, Lijntje Dirkje, Hendrika, Heiltje, Odilia Arnolda, Antje Jenetta, Johanna and Johanna.  He was the youngest of the eleven children.  He died at 5 months old on August 25th, 1863 in Gameren.2
